My parakeet lost a tail feather. Is this normal parakeet molting?

I have two parakeets, today one of the parakeet lost one of his/her tail feather. Is it normal.

Hi and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! It is absolutely normal for parakeets to occasionally shed their feathers, even the larger feathers from the tail. However, since it sounds like there are two birds housed together, I recommend keeping an eye their overall appearance and have them evaluated by a vet if there are any large featherless patches.

    This could just be normal molting or shedding of old feathers to grow in new ones. If new feathers aren’t coming in (usually seen as pin feathers) then there could be a problem.
