Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! From your picture it appears to be a baby canine tooth. In small breed dogs sometimes the baby teeth can become retained and the puppy doesn’t lose them at all. I recommend removing the baby teeth that haven’t shed on their own when the puppy is spayed or neutered. My thoughts are that at least one Chacha’s baby canine teeth didn’t shed when it was supposed to. It was likely delayed. And it’s a GOOD thing it’s out now. If you are worried have your Vet take a look to see if any more baby teeth are present and discuss removing them at her spay. I hope this helps and have a great day!

Good question. We usually expect the puppy teeth to be gone by six months and should definitely be gone by the time the adult tooth has fully erupted. Given Napoleon's age, I would consider this a retained baby tooth and would recommend removal. We recommend removal, because these retained teeth tend to trap debris between the teeth and quickly get infected. Removal is usually fairly easy, but can sometimes be more difficult; which means more time under anesthesia for the extraction. I recommend scheduling an appointment with a vet, so they can further evaluate this and give the best treatment recommendation. I hope that helps and all is well with Napoleon.
