Will my pet's cyst go away on its own, or does it need surgery?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 4 years and 9 months old | 13.7 lbs

About Silver's cyst, I forgot saying it swelled but it is filled with liquid or air. The vet told me it was not malign. It had some keratin and could be an ingrown hair or a foreign body. There was no bacteria growing in the sample taken from cytology. So, is it stil advisable to go through cirurgy or can we wait that the swelling disapears by itself?

If it is a cyst and it keeps growing I would recommend removing it with surgery. Cysts can get bigger and rupture and get infected after they rupture. The only way to get rid of a cyst is to actually surgically remove it. It may rupture and get smaller but it will not actually go away.
