How often and how much Zentel for my 5-month-old kittens?

I want to ask how often and how much Zentel (albendazole) deworming medicine should I give my almost 5 month old kittens to get them dewormed, if they haven't been dewormed before. It says on the internet you should get them dewormed every two weeks in the start and then on a bimonthly and monthly basis?

How much the kittens need to get of the Zentel depends on their weight. The dosing instructions should be on the bottle, and I would follow that. It is correct you need to deworming them every two weeks in the start. That is because it takes at least two dose of the medication given two weeks apart in order to kill all the worms. The first dose kills the adults present, while the second dose kills the ones that had no yet hatched at the time of the first treatment. I would give your kittens two doses two weeks apart, and then I would give it to them monthly until they are six months of age. After that, they can get it every three months. I recommend you take some of the worms for a formal indentification by your vet in order to determine the species and likely source (fleas or small mammals) so as to guide the most effective prevention. I wold recommend oral or long acting spot on flea treatment and also an insecticidal household flea spray to reduce any flea eggs or larvae. Tapeworm medications will only kill the adult worms inside the cat at anyone time and do not prevent reinfection but I wold not recommend treating any more than monthly

I would give Muezza Panacur. It's a three day course of treatment, and she will need another course of treatment two weeks after the first ends. After that, she should be dewormed monthly until she is six months of age, and then she should be dewormed every three months. The amount to give her is based on her weight, and the instructions on the bottle of Panacur will tell you how much to give her. I hope this helps!

Ideally, kittens should be dewormed every 2 weeks from 6 weeks of age until 3 months, and then monthly until they are 6 months old. Strongid (pyrantel) and Drontal are common dewormers. You should confirm a dose based on Zuri's weight with your veterinarian. A stool sample can be submitted to diagnose specific parasites to make treatment more effective.

Hi, I would recommend to worm first, at an interval of 2 weeks apart and then continue with every 3 months. Please consult the vet about using a product for cats which treat against roundworm and tapeworm.

Great question! When kittens have worms, it typically takes two deworming treatments given two weeks apart to kill all the worms. The first kills the adults already present, which the second kills the adults who had not yet hatched from the eggs at the time of the first deworming treatment. I would give you kittens another deworming treatment now, a second two weeks after the first, and then they should be dewormed every three months regularly. If deworming them again doesn't help with the scooting behavior, then I would take them back into the vet. Good luck, I hope this helps :-)

Albendazole is not commonly used in pets. For routine deworming, Pyrantel is a good option and will kill the common parasites of kittens (roundworms and hookworms). The dosages will be on the package or you can contact your veterinarian for assistance. You veterinarian also likely carries this product. I hope this helps.

Many times you will not see intestinal parasites until the animals are critically sick. It's recommended to deworm young puppies and kittens every two weeks for at least three cycles, due to the lifecycle of the parasites. I would recommend getting a product labeled for kittens such as pyrantel pamoate. Make sure you weigh them and get accurate weights to dose the medication. As soon as you are able I do still recommend a veterinary exam as they will need vaccines, feline leukemia testing and there are other parasites that the pyrantel may not address. Look in your area as there are often low cost vaccination clinics available through pet stores or feed stores if a full service clinic is not possible. Also check with your local veterinarian as many times they may offer a rate for a litter of kittens versus charging each animal individually. Best of luck and thank you for using Boop by Petco.
