My dog's leg is swollen after mass removal. Is this normal or urgent?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Boston Terrier | Male | neutered | 19 lbs

My dog had a mass removed on his leg. The vet said to watch for swelling. Is this level of swelling normal? If not, can it wait til morning?

That is excessive. I see there is a bandage--I do not know what is under that but it needs to be removed to relieve the swelling of the toes. Just make sure he does not lick the incision after that gets removed and if it is open then you may need to take him to a ER tonight to have a new wrap applied

Thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach with your question. Poor Cru. It could be the bandage was too tight causing the swelling. Since she is acting normally, I would keep an eye on her for tonight, and if the swelling is still present in the morning, have her seen by a vet. Best of luck.
