My dog threw up after new food. Should I switch to a lower fat diet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | neutered | 8 months and 16 days old | 23.6 lbs

I just switched my dogs from a prescription low fat food to an over the counter reduced fat food with a higher fat content. Siri has thrown up a couple times what looked like bile and some partially digested food. Do I need to find a lower fat OTC food?

I would suggest that for Siri. In general you want to find the lowest fat you could. There is a brand called California Naturals that has a very low fat variety. If Sirius continues to vomit, I would recommend to take him into the vet to make sure his GI condition is not flaring up. I hope this helps!
