My cat ate chocolate lava cake. Is it an emergency? What should I do?

I have my 19 month old cat maybe 3 cat treats worth of chocolate lava cake which maybe was a mix of milk and dark chocolate. Will anything happen to him??

Great question! Dark chocolate is unfortunately the most toxic type of chocolate, meaning it takes the smallest amount of it to cause toxic symptoms. Without knowing exactly how much of the cake was made up of dark chocolate, it can't say if Wolf will be ok or not. Because chocolate toxicity can cause death if enough is ingested, my recommendation is to take him into a vet now. The vet can induce vomiting with a shot, and can do decontamination procedures to prevent any toxicity from occurring. Please take him into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. The information to reach that vet is found on a clinic's answering machine or website. Good luck, I hope this helps!

If it happened more than 6-8hrs ago and your cat doesn't have any worrying symptoms like restlessness, racing heart, nervousness, vomiting then you do not have to rush to your vet. It means that your cat is not in danger. You may see gastro-intestinal symptoms like vomiting and / or diarrhea. If they are mild then again you don't have to see your vet immediately. However, if your cat looks unwell you should get him checked by your vet.

My dog ate a chocolate cake I’m scared and have no idea what to do I have no money and the pet poison helpline charges a lot
With chocolate ‘the dose determines the poison’ so depending on how much he ate he may not be affected or might require intensive treatment. To make things a little more difficult, if you didn’t bake the cake yourself or if you used a mix it can be very difficult to estimate how much chocolate was in the cake. Cakes usually have cocoa powder which is very concentrated, and as little as 3 tablespoons of cocoa powder could be toxic to a 30 pound dog. If he ate the cake in the last couple of hours you could see an emergency vet to have them induce vomiting to be safe.

My cat ate a piece small piece of milk chocolate with caramel inside. I got to her in time to see her eat it bit was unable to prevent her from swallowing. Vets around me are all closed. What should I do? Is it very serious ?
The good news is that milk chocolate is the least toxic type of chocolate, and if it was a small piece with caramel inside, there likely isn't a lot of chocolate in it and your cat should be fine. I recommend monitor her for now, and if you do see some signs of chocolate toxicity such as vomiting, lethargy, or anorexia, I would have her seen by a vet. It's likely, however, she will be just fine :-)

My 2 yr ooks cat licked my bowl that had chocolate muffin in it and then vomitted right away
Poor Olaf! The taste of the chocolate muffin may have made him feel ill, but if he didn't actually eat any of the muffin, he would not suffer any toxicity from it. I will give you a home remedy to see if that helps him feel better. I recommend withholding food for 12-24 hours, then feeding a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in his normal diet. If the vomiting continues in the absence of food, he vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, he will need to see a vet right away. My dog has been acting weird. hes been vomitting so we figured that maybe he ate something he wasnt supposed to. His vomit smells like chocolate. What do we do?
Poor Fluffy! If his vomit smells like chocolate, I would suspect that he has gotten into chocolate. Chocolate is toxic to dogs, and vomiting is a sign of that toxicity. There can be other more serious chocolate toxicity symptoms including heart failure, seizures, and death. I would take Fluffy into an emergency vet immediately for treatment. Please take him into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. Hello, my kitten stole a tiny nibble of chocolate cake, how concerned should I be?
A tiny nibble of chocolate cake would not be enough for a kitten that size to get chocolate toxicity. However, it's a good idea to keep an eye out for signs of toxicity just in-case she ate more than I am considering. Vomiting is usually the first sign that there is a problem. Chocolate toxicity can also cause nervousness, tremors and seizures as the toxin progresses. If you notice this, then it's best to take Yang to the vet immediately for treatment. Dog has eaten chocolate
In order to know if Barney is in any danger we need know how much chocolate he ate, what kind (dark, milk, bakers?), and how long ago. Based on his picture, Barney is a very small dog, so if he ate more than 1.5oz of milk chocolate (and any amount of a darker chocolate) he needs to go to the vet to vomit. Give them your regular vet a call right away and see if he can go straight there or if they recommend he go to an emergency clinic. Good luck!

My cat appears to have eaten part of a Kind bar. It likely happened between 4:00 and 6:00. He doesn’t seem to be showing any different signs. Should I rush him to the vet?
If the bar contained chocolate there is potential for toxicity, although I would guess he would need to eat more than a bar to have any problems (knowing his weight would help and you can repost your question). If it didn’t have any chocolate and he didn’t eat the plastic he shouldn’t have any problems.

Hi! My cat consumed chocolate about an 45 minutes ago. He seems okay but I am not sure the extremities of the situation or what to do. I dont know how much he ate but it was melted choclate with milk on rice krispie treats.
Rarely will cats eat enough chocolate to become toxic. Milk chocolate with the Rice Krispies should be ok. It’s the dark baking chocolate that is the most toxic and cats are quite fussy, unlike dogs, and they won’t eat as much. Keep an eye on him. Signs of toxicity starts with agitation. If he should start acting abnormally excited then you may want to have him checked at your emergency clinic. Do not try to have him vomit as that may cause more medical issues than the chocolate. I know pets need to ingest a certin amount of chocolate before it can be toxic/fetal.. but what about a 6-7 pound cat? I fixed my mom a chocolate brownie that had vanilla icing on it and long story short there was a pinprick or two sized icing with
I think Mirz will likely be fine. The most toxic chocolate is the unsweetened baker's chocolate. Milk chocolate and white chocolate are the least toxic. It doesn't sound like she got enough to make her sick based on what you said above. I recommend you just monitor her closely for any abnormal behavior or symptoms.
