How much daily exercise do Reagle and Cur dog breeds require?

My family and I are still trying to learn more about the needs of our three dogs (Belle the rough collie, Ruby the Reagle, and Lily the Cur), and we're still trying to work their exercise needs around our schedules. The one struggle I'm coming across though is figuring out how much exercise each one needs. It's easier with Belle because there are more online resources for her breed, but do you have any recommendations for the other two? Thanks!

Reagles are considered a large breed dog, so with Ruby, she will need at least 45 minutes of exercise twice as day. As for Lily, Cur's are working dogs and are also large breed, so I would give the same amount of exercise recommendation for her as I would Ruby. Keep in mind that as both dogs are working dog breeds, more exercise will be better for them, but follow their lead on that and make sure they at least get 45 minutes exercise twice a day. Walking is good for dogs because it keeps their weight down, and their body strong. Because Bruno is a German Shepherd, their exercise requirements are higher because they are active dogs. He should be getting at least 30 minutes twice a day of exercise, but it's fine to keep it shorter when it is hot outside. You can't exercise him too much in the heat because it will lead to heat stroke, which is deadly. There are dogs who don't get much exercise and still lead full lives, so I wouldn't listen to your friend. But that doesn't mean Bruno wouldn't benefit from more exercise when it's cooler outside. That really depends on the breed, age, and personality of your dog. Some dogs need a lot more exercise than others. If you have a very active dog than you should probably take him/her on a couple walks a day for at least 30 minutes but if you have a small breed dog than he/she may not need that much exercise. You may also need to play with your dog off leash a few times a day, depending on the breed.

For most dogs, a 20-to 30-minute walk twice a day is a sufficient amount of exercise. However, traditionally active breeds or high-energy dogs may require more exercise, including the chance to run off leash in a safe area for longer periods of time. In addition, your pet’s exercise needs will vary based on their age, size and overall health. Cats also need a plenty of exercise in order to maintain a healthy weight and can benefit from chasing a laser pointer or utilizing puzzle toys. Some cats can even be taught to play fetch. While exercise is one important aspect of maintaining a healthy body weight, proper diet and feeding practices are equally important. Pets should be offered portion-controlled meals of a high-quality, balanced diet while avoiding people foods or excessive quantities of treats.

The good standard of exercise for dogs depends on breed, size and age. Given that Bruno is very young and a larger active breed, the best recommendation would be two 30 minute walks per day. This will help keep his heart, muscles and other organs in best working order. Exercise also helps to promote mental health in dogs. The reality is that it can be very difficult to manage daily exercise. So, although it is the best recommendation, it seems like you are walking Bruno a fair amount. If he seems happy and healthy I would continue to just do the best you can. Keep the goal of a daily walk in mind, even if it's very short, but also know that some excercise is better then no exercise. If you can't manage a walk everyday, outdoor time in parks, or socialising with other dogs, will also benefit Bruno.

Is 40 minutes to an hour of exercise enough for an adult English Springer Spaniel?
If you can do 40-60 minutes of exercise once a day, then that would be great for a Springer Spaniel. These dogs tend to be a bit high-strung, so it's difficult to say if it's enough. Ideally these dogs would have some space to run around during the day. Having at-least one exercise period a day is great, but you also want to make sure they don't have long periods of being confined to a small area alone. This could result in behavioral issues even if there was a good exercise period during the day.

The type of questions you need answered largely depend on your dog's personal needs and personality. In general, a dog should be let out to urinate / defecate at minimum 2-3 daily. In terms of a exercise for a young, medium sized dog, at least two 10-15 minute walks daily would be advisable. Some dogs however will require considerably more exercise then this or they will start to act out by being destructive or anxious. The length of time to leave a dog alone will vary tremendously on the individual. Some dogs can be left alone for 12-18 hours while others don't do well for even a few minutes. I would recommend having Zephur crate trained so that he can have a place that he is comfortable in when he is not being supervised. Hope this helps and gives you some basic information you need.

Do big dogs need more exercise than small dogs?
It's not necessarily the size of the dog but the temperament and breed that makes a difference. Some small dogs like Dachshunds are usually very active dogs. Some big dogs like a St. Bernard are fairly inactive. When you think about it though, a small dog who walks a mile every day will take many more steps than a large dog who walks the same distance. So the little dog will be more tired than the large dog at the end of a one mile walk. So even if they do require more exercise, this is generally easier for the human to achieve. There is definitely a variation between different dogs, but generally it's good if they can get an hour of exercise a day (can be broken into two different times of the day). Some dogs may need more exercise than that. A good gauge is how much extra energy she has at home. If she does not seem to calm down at home, or has some behavioral issues, then she likely needs more exercise. Exercise is also good for ensuring that Penny stays at a good weight. Nutrition is also an important factor. Is it true ? My friend told me taking dog on walk regularly increase the chances for them to live longer for long period of time and my mom told me that's not true breeds have their own age and longevity so I some times like once in 3 days or two da
I believe regular exercise is good for dogs! And I think keeping a dog at a healthy weight (which exercise helps with this) will help your dog live longer. Now will he live to be as old as a miniature poodle?! Probably not since he is a large breed dog. But he has a better chance to live a long healthy life with regular exercise. If you are able to walk him every day to every other day, then I think that is a good goal!
