Why is my 8-week kitten screaming, not playing, and has yellow snot?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 3 lbs

He is about 7 or 8 weeks old kitten. Got him on Saturday and started acting weird on Tuesday, won’t play anymore, every time you touch him he screams and he has yellow white snot coming out his nose. Every time you try to pick him up he screams. Have any thoughts?

I hate to hear that Bear is not feeling well. It sounds like he has an infection that just be making him feel so sick. The yellow color tells me there is a bacterial infection present. He needs to go to the doctor TODAY for antibiotics and likely subcutaneous fluids. Kittens tend not to take care of themselves and dehydrate quickly. I would also recommend to start him on a supplement called Lysine. The good thing is most of them will bounce back quickly. I hope this helps!
