My Boxer has a watery, painless swelling on his rear. What's wrong?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Boxer | Male | unneutered | 10 years and 10 months old

What is the probable cause of this swelling on my boxers rear ? Feels like water and doesnt bother him when touched. Something to do with glands maybe? Theyre large.

I am concerned Zeus has a large perianal hernia or a tumor. He needs to see the veterinarian tomorrow for an exam. Large hernias can allow the bladder to slip into it which can cause complications. If that is a tumor, it needs to be addressed asap. Once a physical exam has been preformed, the doctor may get a better idea of what to do. I hope this helps!
