What to do if my 4-week-old pug puppy is tiny, weak, and not growing?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pug | Female | unspayed | 1 month old | 0 lbs

My pug had 8 puppies 2 didn't make it. They are now 4 weeks old but one in particular is extremely tiny and week. She has not grown. I have been feeding her a replacement every 3 hours and there is no change. What should I do?

I would recommend to continue to supplemental feeding. Its possible that there is a congenital problem that is causing her to be so small compared to her littermates. I would recommend a vet visit to see if anything can be determined on physical exam. I would also recommend deworming the whole litter and mom to make sure parasites aren't a problem. The doctor may recommend bloodwork to check for any signs of liver problems. I hope this helps!
