My 6 year old Min Pin has a patch on his right hind quarter about 2.5 " x .5" of white flakiness and a few small scales. No redness or swelling, or hair loss. At first I thought his fur was turning gray in that area but at a closer look it is as I described. It doesn't seem to bother him. He doesn't scratch or bite at the area. A

Poor guy. This appears to be a localized area of alopecia and exoriations, whicih can be caused by a number of things including: Demodexx mites (usually not itchy), hypothyroidism, or a bacterial infection on the skin just to naame a few. I would recommend starting with a skin scrape/cytology test through your vet to check for Mites. If that is negative, then a skin culture can be done to check for bacteria. A thyroid test can also be done to rule in/out thyroid disease. All of these things are treatable with medications, once the cause has been determinedd.
