My new adopted cat has a cold, mucus, and won't eat. Help before vet?

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | neutered | 1 year old | 8.8 lbs

got a sick adopted cat, three days out from adoption. he’s got a cold with mucus and not interested in food today. we have an appointment with the vet tomorrow but wondering what i can do to help in the meantime.

The lack of appetite is probably due to the stuffed nose (he can't smell his food), this obviously needs to be treated medically but until tomorrow the only thing you can try to do is to offer him foods with very strong smell such as sardines for example.
