Take my kitten to noisy Thanksgiving or leave her home with a sitter?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 5 months and 9 days old | 5 lbs

Is it better to leave a 6 month old cat alone for 6 days with a person coming in during the day every other day to socialize, feed and clean up or take the cat with me to my daughters house with young children and Thanksgiving festivities? I do have a cat play pen for safety.

That depends on your cat. If she’s very sociable and travels well then bringing her with you is fine. If she’s nervous I recommend keeping her at home and having someone come in daily to take care of her. Cats often don’t like change and lots of noise. Please make sure she’s eating, drinking, and using the litter box daily. When stressed cats can develop urinary problems or constipation. If you decide to take her make sure you set up her food and litter in a quiet place away from the children and family activity.
