My cat roams. Can't afford neutering. Is getting another cat helpful?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 8 months old | 6.5 lbs

I have one cat. I can't afford for neutering my cat to the vet. Neutering is very expensive and I didn't know that I should neuter a cat to the vet before getting a cat. My cat is 1 yrs old now and he's always roaming outside and won't come inside. Since I can't afford to neuter my cat, is getting another kitten for my cat as best buddies could be better to avoid likely to fight outside and roaming, because they could just play around the house.Or I shouldn't have a cat if I can't afford neuter.

Getting another cat is not a good idea. You really must find a way to get him neutered. If not, he is going to roam around and get many female cats pregnant and the last thing the world needs is more kittens that will then not be neutered/spayed and then they will make more kittens and so on....... Also, if he gets in fights he will be susceptible to getting some fatal cat viral diseases like feline leukemia and feline immunodeficiency virus. Both are transmitted by bite wounds. http://www.caraphil.org/mainsite/learn/why-spayneuter/#.WgsCfLQ-c0Q There must be a place that does low cost or free neutering. I suggest you contact one of these organizations I have linked to below to see if they can help you. http://www.paws.org.ph/veterinary-services.html http://ppbcc.org/lowcostneuter/ https://www.scribd.com/document/187268190/List-of-Low-Cost-Spay-Neuter-Clinics http://www.caraphil.org/mainsite/about-cara/cara-clinic/#.WgsCmrQ-c0Q Hope this helps. Best wishes.
