My chinchilla was stepped on. Is he just sore or seriously injured?

I stepped on my chinchilla Sunday night at 8:00. It's now Monday at 8:30 at night. He never showed at trauma, just ran under the couch and is able to hop back in his cage just fine. So far tonight he hasn't come out of his cage but is still chewing and acting mostly normal but he usually runs around more. Do you think hes just a little sore from last night or is it something worse? If he was seriously injured from me stepping on him, wouldn't I know almost instantly?

Some injuries can show several hours after they actually happens (because of the adrenaline running through the body at the time of the injury). if by tomorrow he is the same i would recommend taking him to your vet for a checkup.
