Why does my cat meow when it's dark? Is it scared or is this normal?

My cat seems to be afraid of the dark. Whenever the light turns off he keeps meowing. Is this normal? Thanks. Pet's info: Cat | Russian Blue | Male | unneutered | 3 months and 12 days old | 2 lbs

Hello, & thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. II think, since Leo is such a young kitten, that he becomes a little disoriented in the dark & this scares him. Perhaps you could keep a little night light in the room for him. He should outgrow this soon. Take care.
