My cat is peeing for a long time. Should I worry if no other symptoms?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 5 years and 10 months old | 11 lbs

I just noticed my cat was in the litterbox peeing for a long time. He didn't seem uncomfortable - he was just in there for way longer than usual. He has no other symptoms - he's not lethargic, he's still cuddly and he is eating. He also didn't meow or cry out while he was in the box. Do you think it could've been a one time thing or should I rush him to the vet?

I'v occasionally seen my cats having an extremely long urination, i guess this is just like us, once in a while we will have a longer than usual urination. as long as it doesn't happen on a regular basis and no other symptoms are present (such as increase thirst for example) then it's probably nothing to worry about.
