Dog lethargic, not eating after vomiting and vet gave meds.

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | English Bulldog | Female | spayed | 3 years and 5 months old | 46 lbs

my dog was vomiting at 5 am this morning. It was continuous for about 4 hours. I took her to the vet at 9:30 am and because everything on her looked healthy, they told me to monitor her for 24 hours and gave her nausea medication. After her vet visit, she threw up 2 more times and since then has not. She hasn't eaten all day and just wants to sleep. I've been giving her water using a medicine syringe. I'm very worried.

Sorry to hear about the trouble you're having with Jorja. I am going to go out on a limb and assume the anti nausea medication provided was Cerenia. This is typically a very effective medication for vomiting, and if there is still vomiting in the face of this, I would definitely recommend getting her back into the vet for re-examination. I would strongly recommend x-rays and blood work. Depending on the level of dehydration, hospitalization with IV fluids would likely be useful particularly if the vomiting is going to continue. Hope this makes sense.
