My dog threw up and I found a worm. Does dewormer kill worms or prevent?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Dewormer kills worms and it does so very effectively. I recommend that you have Emma evaluated by your veterinarian to start her on a dewormer. Intestinal worms are very easily treatable and usually clinical symptoms resolve. Good luck and have a good day!

The deworming product you are using is probably not good enough, you must take Sophie to the vet urgently in order to get her dewormed with a stronger/better product Urgently as this can indeed be fatal if left untreated.

Thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach with your question. Yes, it looks like a roundworm, and yes the Prosense dewormer should help kill them. Give her another course of treatment two weeks after the first to kill all the worms. I hope this helps!
