My dog has diarrhea and bloody stool after pig ear. What should I do?

my dog Bailey had a pigs ear 3 days ago and for the past 2 days has had none stop diarrhea and every once in awhile has blood in his stool and has to go every couple hours. what should I do.

As long as Bailey is behaving normally otherwise, you can try withholding food for 24 hours. Allow small amounts of water or unflavored PediaLyte. Resume feeding a bland diet in small, frequent amounts. Begin with one tablespoon of food every hour and gradually increase the amount. Feed bland until the stool is normal then transition slowly to the regular diet. See your veterinarian if Bailey develops lethargy, vomiting, loss of appetite, abdominal pain or if the stool has the appearance of raspberry jelly. A bland diet is plain white rice mixed with one of the following: cottage cheese, boiled boneless/skinless chicken breasts, cooked/drained ground beef or cooked/drained ground turkey.

    The pigs ear may have upset Sadie's tummy a little. She likely has a touch of gastroenteritis. I would try withholding food from her for the rest of the day, then feed her plain chicken and rice. If the diarrohea doesn't start to improve or if Sadie starts to get very poorly I would take her to the vet.

    The pig ears could indeed be the cause. withhold food for 12 hours then offer Winston boiled boneless chicken and rice every 6 hours in small portions. if he is eating and not vomiting, continue with this diet for 2 days. After 2 days, you can put him back gradually on his normal food. If the bloody diarrhea does not resolve, take him to the vet to get treatment.
