My dog is scratching and losing fur after giving birth. Is it normal?

My chihuahua had puppies 6 weeks ago and is constantly scratching she’s lost a lot of fur because of it...she does some skin irritation where she scratched so hard but the rest of her skin is nice and pink and normal...is this normal...puppies skin and fur is fine. Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 1 year and 10 months old | 8 lbs

This nirnak when the puppies get weaned that the mothers hair thin and fall out. They often look like they have the mange and are not cared for. Don't worry, it all grows back and fills in and returns to normal with time. The scratching is usually not associated with this process though so you can try a medicated shampoo to help and it does not help then consult your vet about potential allergies
