Why is my puppy making sounds, not eating, and won't sleep at night?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Shih Tzu | Female | unspayed | 3 months and 1 day old

My pup has been making sounds but it's time to sleep and she just wants to play. She doesn't poop or pee or eat. She only drinks water then makes sounds. What's happening? What should I do?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I am not sure I understand what you mean by "making sounds." Barking, crying? Or is she hiccuping, reverse sneezing or coughing? How long have you had Aki? If you just got her it is normal for puppies to cry in a new home. It is not normal that she isn't eating. I would try different puppy foods to see if she likes one better than the other. If she is crying or braking I would put here in her crate or where you plan to keep her at night. Check on her in 4-5 hours. If she is coughing, reverse sneezing, vomiting then she should see a vet. I would video tape what she is doing to show the Vet. Please repost if you can with more details so we be more specific. I hope this helps!
