My cat picked a bump and it's oozing. Is it infected? What to do?

Hi I'm Leah and my cat Shadow has this bump I just left it alone but then he picked it off and now it's oozing something and I'm afraid it's something that's deadly I don't know but if u can help I'll be thankful! Plus I put medicine on it

The area on Leah definitely looks pretty angry and infected. Here's what I would recommend doing. You can either go to the vet and let them take care of this for you, or you can try the following first on your own if he'll let you: -Clip the hair on and around the affected lesion -Scrub the lesion with dilute betadine or chlorhexidine solution repeatedly to disinfect the region. Do not use peroxide as it will delay the healing process -Obtain topical ointments such as triple antibiotic and something with a steroid to help address the itchiness and inflammation -Obtain an e-collar (Cone) to help prevent any additional self-inflicted trauma that Shadow will try to cause -If matters do not seem to be heading in the right direction within the next couple days, seek veterinary attention. If at any time things are worsening, do not hesitate to go sooner. Hope this helps. And while I can't be sure, I don't think you need to fear that Shadow is going to die! It looks like a simple skin infection. Hope this puts you a little bit at ease!
