What does it mean when my cat taps my head with his paw after petting?

When I pet my cat on the head lightly he purrs and then lightly taps me on top of my head with his paw. Would you happen to know what it means when he does this? When I stop petting his head he taps me on my head again. Today when I was petting him softly on the head he tapped me three times in a row on the head with his paw. I've had other pet cats in the past that never did this. is it unusual? Pet's info: Cat | RagaMuffin | Male | neutered | 14 lbs
