How do i treat my gerbil with Tyzzers disease? He is really ill and is probably going to die today. Please tell me what to do? Pet's info: Other | Unknown - Other | 4 years old

There is no specific therapy that will kill C. piliforme (the bacteria responsible for the disease), although tetracycline is often administered. Treatment is generally aimed at supportive care including fluids, good nutrition, and providing the optimal temperature and humidity. In young and stressed animals, treatment is usually unsuccessful.
