My cat threw up, has a cold & eats less. Should I still see a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Male

My cat has been throwing up last Friday up until the following Monday. He has started eating less, and hasn’t thrown up since. We were going to take him to the vet, but we could not get any money together at that time. Right now he has a cold and I’m not sure if I should still take him to the vet. Should I be worried about his dry food? Do I just need to wait and see what happens?

Hello, sorry to hear about Kitty. I would definitely have him evaluated in case his cold is secondary from aspirating his vomit which could be causing him a pneumonia now. If he does have pneumonia now, he will need antibiotics and likewise if he has an upper respiratory infections. Hope this helps and best of luck.
