My rabbit is limping and in pain. What to do for a broken toe or paw?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Small Animal | Rabbit | Male | unneutered | 2 years and 11 months old | 5 lbs

I think my Rabbit broke his toe. I don't know how he could of, but when I took him out of his cage he wouldn't put down his front paw and would limp when he tried to walk around. He also would act like he's in pain when I tried to touch one of his toes that looked crooked. If it is broke what can do to keep him out of pain?

Poor Chester! There are great prescription pain medications appropriate for rabbits like Metacam that you can get from your vet. He needs X-rays of the paw as it might be dislocated, and if so this must be fixed under sedation. Then you will know how severe the injury is and get appropriate pain meds. Hope that helps!
