How do I care for an albino kitten? Do they require extra attention?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Turkish Angora | Female

Greetings Doctor, My name is Maryam, and I’m an owner of a 1 years old Turkish Angora cat. Two weeks ago my cat gave birth to 7 kittens and today they started to open their eyes. However, one of them had a red pupils, so when I search about the cause of red eyes in kittens I discovered that this kitten is albino. So I was wondering how do I take care of an albino kitten? Is he different then other cats and requires more care?

Albino kittens should grow up just the same as other kittens, however some can be more sensitive to light or have minor vision problems, and lighter fur may be more prone to irritation or sunburn compared to darker coated cats. As long as the kitten is continuing to thrive and act normal with the other kittens it should be fine, however if you're noting any signs of illness or it is failing to thrive, seeking vet care is always best.
