Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Alfe! It sounds like Alfe is having a flare up! If this has been going on for over a week I would have Alfe seen today, before the weekend. He likely needs supportive care to get through this flare up. I agree cerenia, fluids and maybe temporarily increasing his steroids (if blood work and belly X-rays are normal) may be what he needs. Hopefully he is eating at home and this can be outpatient and he'll be back to himself quickly! I hope this helps and I wish you and Alfe the best!

I would be concerned as well. Alfie may have an anatomical problem such as megaesophahus which is typically caused by another condition called myasthenia gravis (a neuromuscular disorder). Other possibilities is an underlying slow progressing liver problem, acid reflux disease (common), inflammatory bowel disease or even cancer has to be considered. I would suggest starting with baseline bloodwork analysis and a chest + abdominal x-ray to evaluate the esophagus, stomach and intestines. You should fine clues there as to why Alfie is having so many frequent bouts of vomiting. I hope that you get to the bottom of what is causing this and hopefullyit is something that can be managed well with a diet change and medication. Best of luck with Alfie. Take care.

It sounds as Alfie is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking him to the vet the first chance you get, he will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection he will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better.

Blood in the stool and diarrhea could be caused by parasites, change in diet, toxin ingestion, infectious viral diseases, blockage in the intestines caused by ingestion of a foreign body, or a mass/growth in the gastrointestinal tract. Please make an appointment to have Alfie seen by a veterinarian as soon as possible, as diarrhea and blood in the stool can lead to dehydration and anemia, and can be very dangerous if left untreated. I recommend taking in a fecal sample from Alfie to your vet as well, as that may aid them in making a diagnosis. Good luck, and I hope he feels better soon!
