My 6-month-old kitten has diarrhea and vomiting. Is it distemper?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Female | spayed | 5.7 lbs

My kitten is about 6 months old, and she doesn’t have her feline distemper shot. Here for a couple days, she’s had really bad diarrhea and is being distant. She is now throwing up liquid and pooping at the same time. What should I do?

I’m sorry Luna is so sick. It sounds like she needs to see a veterinarian very soon. Young kittens do not have much reserve and can become dehydrated very quickly. Please take a fresh poop sample with you when you go to the veterinarian. They will likely want to look for intestinal parasites and possibly do some blood work to look for panleukopenia. Best of luck and I hope she improves soon.
