My pregnant cat's milk is clear/foggy. Is this normal before birth?

Hello, I’ve ready that once your pregnant cat has milk she can go into labour anytime? Well, my pregnant cat whom is very large, is producing milk. BUT, it’s not white like normal, it’s a clear sometimes foggy coloured. Should this concern me? It’s been 3 days since I’ve noticed the clearer liquid.

The liquid you are seeing is likely colostrum which contains extra components to help stimulate their immune system better. After the colostrum isbused then milk fills in behind it. It is normal and no need to be worried

This type of discharge can be normal for a pregnant cat. Her milk has likely not come in yet and this clear discharge is the very early stages of milk production. Continue to monitor your cat closely, and make sure she still eating and drinking well. If any of her memory glands become firm, swollen, or read he could indicate mastitis. If this is the case she will need antibiotics to help her get over it. Most likely when she has her kittens her milk will come in fully and be normal. I hope this helps. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Best of luck.
