My kitten's diarrhea won't stop despite vet treatments. What now?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | spayed | 4 months and 6 days old | 4 lbs

Kitten has diarrhea. She's about 13-14 weeks. Has been tested neg. for FLVP and vaccinated. She's been treated with Panacure, Albion, metronidazole, and now obrbax. Picky eater but is eating a mixture of Blue Buffalo dry kitten food, canned kitten food and warm water. No relief from the diarrhea. Misses box at times and I have to wash most things she sits on because of the this. Please help.

It appears that she has been tested and treated for many of the common causes of diarrhea, but unfortunately this is a bit more complicated. When this happens, we end up having to do more testing to help identify the cause of the problem. If the orbifloxacin is not working, then I would ask the vet about doing more diagnostics rather than more treatment. This can unfortunately get pricey, but is really the only way to discover the cause of the diarrhea. Below is a link to an article that may help you identify why she is having this long-standing diarrhea. https://www.petcoach.co/article/most-common-causes-of-diarrhea-in-cats/ I hope that helps and Willow gets better soon.
