My dog's nipples are still saggy after puppies. When will they firm up?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 1 year and 1 month old | 43 lbs

My dog had puppies almost 4 months ago, we took her to get checked after to make sure she was healthy and all. Her nipples are still like a little saggy, not to bad but we kept a pup and sometimes he tries to still bite at them so it’s causing her to get cuts sometimes . Does anyone know when they’ll fully return back to normal?

Hello, & thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. I would assume the puppies were weaned about 2 months ago, so it may still take a few more months for all of the breast tissue to firm up. Give things a bit more time, & please consider spaying Bella, unless she is a valuable breeding dog. Take care.
