My dog has skin bumps and irritation. Is it allergy or something else?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Female | unspayed | 1 year and 11 months old | 65 lbs

For a while, I've seen these bumps occur frequently on my dog's back and around her genitalia areas. I figured it was just an allergic reaction to something so I purchased a recommended allergy wash. However, this wash did not really help clear up her skin. I just wanna know if there are any possible explanations for her irratents.

Hi and thanks for your post! It is hard to say exactly what the cause of Skyy's skin irritation may be without examining Skyy first, but I can offer some potential possibilities. It could be a bacterial infection, fungal infection, mites, or due to an allergy to something in her environment or to a particular food. Your veterinarian can diagnose these potential conditions with an exam and a few simple skin tests. I would recommend Skyy visit her vet soon to have the possibilities above ruled out so she can get the most appropriate treatment. Best to you and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach!
