My 10-year-old cat suddenly meows strangely and hisses. Is it serious?

Last night my cat randomly started doing very strange meows and hissing for no apparent reason. He's 10 years old, never meowed like that & hissed twice before last night in his whole life. Tonight he's doing the same. Still wanting cuddles and food. Please help I'm very concerned.. Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered

He could be painful (arthritis, injury), scared, have painful urination or constipation and any metabolic condition (kidney or liver problems, hyperthyroidism, diabetes).
