Why did my puppy get adenovirus after breeder's vaccines?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | French Bulldog | Female | unspayed | 5 months and 12 days old | 15 lbs

The breeder vaccinated my puppy 7-8- 7:18/. 7/20 With the vanguard plus 5 it was for distemper adenovirus parvovirus vaccine. It was all within 12 days . The manufacturer states three weeks apart. My puppy is now 5 months old very very sick with adenovirus and pneumonia due to adnovirus. My question is . Since the breeder didn't follow manufacturers instructions. Is that why she got the adenovirus

You are correct in finding that your puppy was not vaccinated properly. When vaccines are given too close together the body is unable to produce an adequate immune response and therefore the dog will not have proper immunity. I am sorry that you are going through this with your dog. Once your dog recovers I would recommend restarting his vaccination series so you can ensure that he is properly immunized I hope this helps.
