My cat is twitching after flea treatment. Is a vet visit necessary?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | spayed | 1 year old | 10 lbs

I applied hartz ultraguard pro to 3 of my felines on sat at 6p. By midnight noticed two were acting odd. I washed them all immediately with dawn soap twice and again on sun morning. They are not acting sick today except for paw flicking and ear twitching. They both vomited once sat. Eating drinking urinating and BM like normal. I tried to speak with my vet but girl at desk refused me. I need to know at this point in recovery if they need medical care from a dr in office.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! If all you are seeing is some ear and paw twitching and both are eating and drinking I don't think they need to be seen by a Vet. I would bathed them again and go over and over the spot that the Hartz was applied to. I hope this helps and I wish everyone the best!
