Why do pet store rabbits often get coccidia after purchase?

Pet's info: Small Animal | Rabbit | Female | unspayed

Good morning! I thank Pet Coach team for answering my first question. My little rabbits develop Coccidia. One vet has told me that hunedreds of these bunnies have been brought from Spain and hunedreds have died. What could be the cause of the development of the disease here: food, water, lack of care and hygene in pet shops? I've seemed to realise that they are allready sick when I buy them.

You are exactly right. Physical stress, overcrowding, poor hygiene are all reasons that coccidia causes disease in these young rabbits. This is a common problem in most rabbit breeding farms and puppy mills.
