My dog sleeps a lot, gains weight despite walks and less food. Why?

I walk my dog everyday and have been feeding her less and less but she is not losing any weight but seems to be gaining it. She is 6 years old and go be truthful she does sleep a lot but I do take long walks. Why could this be? Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 6 years and 7 months old | 12 lbs

Daphne could have a slow metabolism or she could have hypothyroidism. I would recommend to make an appointment for a thyroid panel which is a blood test. This will tell you if she needs thyroid medication. Generally most dogs do well with treatment. If her thyroid is fine, then you may want to think about using a prescription diet dog food.
