My guinea pig is suddenly biting, but not exactly aggressive. I was petting his back, and in a certain spot, more near his uh...butt, he always gave a noise of discomfort. We can't afford to take him to the vet and I'm scared that something may be wrong. He has been shedding for a while but I'm quite sure that's normal. Two of my dogs have been trying to get into my room. This is my first experience with a guinea pig and I'm not sure if it's back pain or something worse. Sorry I don't have pics.

It does sound as if your guinea pig is painful in this area. I would recommend avoiding touching it and picking him up as much as possible. I would also recommend that you check to make sure he is pooping normally and there is no feces caked around his rectum. If he is eating and drinking and otherwise acting normally, there is probably nothing you need to do. If, however, he stops wanting to eat or becomes lethargic you will have to take him in to be examined by a veterinarian. I hope this helps. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Best of luck.
