Pet's info: Dog | Cane Corso | Male | neutered | 10 years and 6 months old
About a week ago, I noticed my dog's neck looking slightly bigger than normal. I figured I was just exaggerating the symptoms because I'm a prevet student. But now the mass is much more obvious- easily seen and felt. He's always had seizures maybe once or twice a year, but he's had two since the beginning of September. He has anxiety, his appetite's increased, as well as his thirst. He is due for vaccines next week anyway, but I am hoping you could give me an idea of what we're dealing with.

Owen is a handsome guy! The location of that mass could indicate a few options. There is salivary tissue in that area. Glands and ducts can become clogged or inflamed and cause a swelling. There are also lymph nodes in the neck. An inflamed node or a cancer in the nose can cause a firm lump. Thyroid tissue is also in the neck. It may also just be an ordinary abscess from a puncture. Owen will need a hands on exam to get an idea of what is going on. Your vet will probably do a needle aspirate to determine which type of tissue is affected and what the most likely possible diagnosis may be.
