My cat is suddenly drooling a lot. What's causing it and what to do?

My cat is drooling alot all of a sudden, i mean alot, like a 3 inch circular puddle and drool dripping from his mouth and all down his front. I dont know what this means or what to do.

If it happened suddenly it is due to something he licked or ingested, cats are very sensitive to bad taste and start drooling easily. it could be something toxic as well, if within 20 minutes you do not see any improvement or if your cat becomes lethargic- take him to the ER right away.

    It sounds to me like Snickerdoodle needs to be examined by a veterinarian. Excessive salivation can be due to dental infection, toxin exposure, or even Rabies so it's very important to have Snickerdoodle seen by a veterinarian immediately. Rabies is obviously a serious human health concern so if your veterinarian suspects Rabies you should also seek advice from your physician. If an infection or toxin is suspected Snickerdoodle will need prescription medications and possibly hospitalization for supportive care.
