Why is my dog's eye suddenly cloudy and painful? Should I see a vet?

My 12 year old Chihuahua all of a sudden (today) one of her eyes are completely cloudy. She is blinking her eyes as if she is in pain. Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua | Female | spayed | 12 years and 7 months old | 6 lbs

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor little Sassy! This is possibly a corneal ulcer or infection. These can be painful and as you pointed out blinking can be a sign of pain or discomfort. I recommend that you have your girl evaluated by your veterinarian for an examination of her eyes. If this is confirmed to be an ulcer or laceration to the cornea for example, they would be able to prescribe a medication for it and also potentially something for pain as well.
