My puppy had seizures, labs are normal. Could it be a liver shunt?

Pet's info: Dog | Boston Terrier | Male | unneutered | 4 months and 20 days old | 11.5 lbs

Hi. We have a 4 1/2 month old male Boston Terrier who suddenly had 3 seizures yesterday. We took him to the vet, labs were normal. He was started on antibiotics and phenobarbital. He’s been totally fine since. 4 days prior, he received his first Lyme shot. So, other options were discussed. Such as seeing a neurologist and having an MRI if he didn’t improve on meds. A bile acid test was also scheduled, but my question is how likely is it a liver shunt issue if his labs were normal?

I hate to hear that about Tucker. It is possible to have a shunt despite normal values but that is not the usual situation. If his liver is small enough or diseased enough, he may not be able coproduce enough enzymes to be 'abnormal'. I agree that a bile acids makes the most sense to do based on his age and breed. Best of luck with little Tucker.
