My dog shook and twitched briefly. Was it a seizure? Should I see a vet?

Hi, I have a small chihuhua he's a male and is around 5 years old. Last night I noticed him shaking and his legs twitching and moving really fast, and he was shaking very fast it was not normal. It only lasted like 15-20 secs and then after the fact he was just staring and not acting right but 20 secs, he started to move and I kept a eye on him and he was fine. But I'm pretty sure it was a small seizure so I don't know if I should be concerned or bring him to a vet. Or see if it happens again.

That sounds like Jb had a seizure. I would recommend taking him in. I like to do blood work including checking thyroid levels. I’m looking for treatable things. He also needs a thorough neurological exam to see if there are any deficits. I don’t usually place on anti-seizure medication for one seizure. I do recommend keeping a seizure log- keeping track of what they were doing, how long it lasted.. etc I have been using Royal Veterinary College App for my personal dog. Thanks for reaching out to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
