My cat ate Easter cactus, is vomiting and listless. What to do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 6 months and 10 days old | 5 lbs

Came home 2 days ago to find 2 plants knocked on to floor. One is an Easter cactus. Other is a random viny plant. I have seen 4 piles of vomit on floor in the last 24+ hours. He is normally a very active cat. He is listless, but purrs when pet. I have out fresh water out for him to keep him hydrated. I have no idea if he ate any of each plant. Thoughts? Thank you.

I would be very concerned that he ate some of the plant or has an intestinal/stomach blockage. Your cat needs to get checked out by a veterinarian and potentially blood tests and/or X-rays done as some plants can cause kidney failure or liver issues.
