Missed dog's campylobacter antibiotic dose: poop bad again. What to do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Collie | Female | unspayed | 2 months and 16 days old | 12 lbs

My dog has got campylobacter and is on antibiotics. Her feces went straight back to a solid state within the first day of being on the antibiotics. I missed one dose on Wednesday and now her feces has gone back to how it was before we started the antibiotics. What do I do?

I would continue the antibiotics until they are gone. When you are almost done with the antibiotics I would have your vet recheck her feces to ensure all of the campy is gone. Sometimes it takes more than one course of meds to get completely rid of the bacteria. Also you can add In a probiotics which will help to build up fit immunity. Also, make sure she isn’t going back outside and reinfecting herself by eating dirt or drinking stagnant water. I hope this helps
