What diet for my pregnant dog? Is fried or oily food safe for her?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | 11 months and 24 days old

My basenji bitch is 38 days pregnant.... What diet should I give her??? She is really fond of eating fried chicken and fish, and as I heard that oily food is bad for dogs.... Is it true? Pls prescribe a diet for my bitch...

Hi there and thanks for your post. Pregnant females should be eating a diet high in vitamins and minerals as well as higher in calories. I would recommend a good quality commercial puppy food for Nancy as puppy diets have extra calcium and calories they need to maintain a healthy pregnancy and produce healthy pups. Unfortunately, I cannot legally prescribe diets over the internet. Please discontinue the fried chicken and fish diet as eating these foods alone is not food for pregnant dogs or dogs in general and yes, oily food is not good for dogs as they are high in fat and low in nutritional value.
