Why won't my kitten eat after vet visit & antibiotics for URI?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed

I have 2 3 week old kittens. One of them is suffering in URIs. It is just this morning I took her to the vet and bought her some antibiotics. It was a pretty tough travel because of the heat and traffic. I think it stressed her out. She feeds well before I took her out, but when I got her back from the trip and after I gave her the medicine, she no longer has the appetite to feed for the whole day now. Are there ways for me to restore her appetite soon? The sick kitten is the white one.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Just like you pointed out, it is possible that this is all related to the trip. I would recommend to just continue with the current plan for now. If it is just related to the trip, she should start feeling better soon. If her appetite has not improved by tomorrow, let your veterinarian know as the other possibility would be that the antibiotics are causing her to lose her appetite which is a common side effect seen with some antibiotics. Good luck! I hope this is just transient and she goes back to normal.
